Arkansas Seismic Network

The Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS) in cooperation with the Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI) are installing the new Arkansas Seismic Network (ASN). The ASN will be comprised of six (6) state-of-the-art broadband seismic stations located at selected State Parks. We are in the initial phase of conducting site evaluations at selected Arkansas State Parks for suitability as a permanent station sites. As part of this process we have installed temporary (interim) monitors at three of the State Parks. The interim monitors will serve the following purposes:

  1. They will provide real-time data to CERI and be available for viewing via their website if an earthquake should occur.
  2. This will expand and enhance earthquake monitoring and detection in these areas until the permanent stations are brought online.
These interim stations are located at Lake Catherine, Powhatan Courthouse, and Woolly Hollow State Parks.
